2022 Equinox Graces Chicago Auto Show With Sharp Exterior Design, New RS Trim, Helpful Tech Features

Staged for the very first time in 1901, the Chicago Auto show is the largest in North America and has been held more times than any other on the continent. This year marks the 113th exciting addition and spans more than 1 million square feet and nearly 1,000 different vehicles for the public to experience, in many cases for the very first time. The 2021 Chevy Equinox was in line at last year’s show for everyone to see, and after the delays of the year will now arrive as a 2022 model.

Sales of the new Equinox are scheduled to begin this summer here at Jim Butler of St Louis, as it has seen resilience and strength as the second-best-selling unit in the entire Chevy lineup. When you get to enjoy a test drive for yourself you’ll enjoy a sharper exterior design, brand-new RS trim, and additional tech features. You’ll enjoy refreshed headlights, a new grille, updated bumpers, and hopefully 19-inch wheels borrowed from the Blazer.

There will be a higher-end unique shift knob, red stitching, and black upholstery inside, with gloss black trim on the console as well. The big question on our minds has been about powertrain inclusion, and just what will be under the hood of the Equinox for an engine upgrade option. It now appears to be the 2.0-liter option with 237 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, and all-wheel drive will be available as well. Available safety features will include lane-keeping assistance, lane-departure warning, HD camera surround vision, automatic parking assist, and adaptive cruise control.

This is the first time that the RS trim level is offered on the Equinox, and we guarantee that you’re going to want to consider it as an aggressive and unique personal touch. It offers 19-inch black wheels, black exterior badging, an RS shift knob, and black upholstery with red contrast stitching. Taking a close look at the competition is one way that we provide the best-equipped and practical models at reasonable pricing points. The Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Subaru Forester are the rivals for the Equinox, and digging deep into multiple reviews on the Edmunds website provides insight into how the Equinox stacks up.

One verified purchaser who chose the Premier trim was ecstatic about the roomy interior, smooth handling, and sleek appearance for the price. The JD Powers Awards deemed the Equinox the “most dependable” compact SUV on the road, as well as the “highest-quality” compact  SUV hands-down. The 2020 Equinox also has earned a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, when it is outfitted with the available HID projector headlights. It fully aced six IIHS crashworthiness tests, including the driver-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, head restraint, and passenger-side small overlap front tests.
