Affordable & Tech-Rich Ingenuity: 2024 Chevy Equinox EV Sets a New Standard for Budget Crossovers

In a constantly changing environment, it is difficult for any auto manufacturer to secure a “sure bet.” It’s not just the bottom line and sales that make an impact, but a vehicle’s handling, overall reputation, and how frequently owners recommend it to others that can make a huge difference here at Jim Butler Chevy of St Louis. The 2024 Chevy Equinox EV SUV was just praised by the staff of Motor Trend for its updated range and segment-leading technology, along with informing readers about items to look forward to for the Equinox EV this year.

Chevy had officially confirmed to Motor Trend that the front-wheel drive Equinox EV trims will now be offered with as much as 319 miles of range. It is not certain yet whether the 1LT option will hit lots with an AWD version, or just FWD. All-wheel drive Equinox EV trims are likely to be good for around 285 miles of charge while offering up to 288 horsepower. By early estimates, the Equinox 1LT trim was slated for 19-inch wheels and the very efficient 11.5 kW level 2 onboard charger that can add up to 30 miles of range in just one hour.

Every trim including the base will now receive the 17.7-inch interior touchscreen, as the race for screen size has lately been heating up. We’d have to agree that the screen size is so much more than just a status statement: gathering your vehicle’s vitals and other infotainment features is that much better with expanded real estate. The standard safety package aids the busy commuter with excellent options such as forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking and front pedestrian braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and a following distance indicator.

The 2LT trim is the first in the mix that is available with the white contrasted roof, while also celebrating a “surf’s up” spirit with the Riptide Blue hue. The U.S. News auto blogging staff praised the Equinox for “ticking most of the boxes for a family-friendly vehicle with a small footprint.”

The FWD model should get the same 210 horsepower, 242 lb-ft of torque, as the FWD 1LT, along with a lake-toy friendly 1,500-lb. towing capacity. The 2RS trim is now promised to come with 21-inch wheels, along with GM’s hands-free Super Cruise Technology. Of all the new features that liven up every drive in a modern crossover, we absolutely love the Equinox’s multi-color ambient interior lighting! Elements such as this can elevate the immediate mood so much, and allow you to feel as if you are truly having a “mini-vacation” even on a nighttime grocery run.

The 11.5 kW onboard charger is good for about 30 miles an hour of home charging, with 150 kW DC fast charging also available. The 3LT trim now boasts the available head-up display unit, ventilated front seating, and heated front and rear outboard seating. The 3RS trim is the one to pick if you’re after a smartly-dressed upgrade, and comes with a 19.2 kW Level 2 onboard charging unit. Here you upgrade to at least 50 miles of additional range per hour of charge at home, along with a very cool, black-painted grille design.
